The once proud and beautiful village of Ashenville lay in a fiery sea of chaos, as three towering abominations, surrounded by magical viridian flames, roamed through the shattered remains. They are Infernos, mindless golems set ablaze with mighty hellfire, summoned right out of the burning pits of hell itself via dark magic; they exist only to stomp out all forms of life. A group of sorcerers attempted to cast binding spells on the Infernos, only to have their spells bounce off the Infernos’ sheets of rock-like armor. One of them roared and turned in the direction of the sorcerers. The sorcerors quickly turned to run for their lives, only to find their life essence rapidly being sucked away. They howled in pain as they found their souls siphoned out of their bodies, through a thin green thread that lead to a figure in the shadows. They let out a final, desperate cry before crumbling down to the ground, having been reduced to nothing more than an empty shell.
“That shall do,” a hollow voice commanded.
The shadowy figure, a demonic, skeletal mage known as an oblivion, stopped sucking whatever was left of the sorcerers, and retreated back to it’s master. It knew, however, that its job wasn’t done.

In the sewers below Ashenville, young Edmund clung to his only family left, weeping silently. Sakura, who had been serving Edmund’s family for the past three hundred years, pulled him close and cried too. They had just witnessed the annihilation of the entire Windabloome family – the greatest family in history long thought to be indestructible.
Author’s note: Gawd I can’t believe it took me 3 hours to get the ‘prologue’ done. =S I need to train myself to think faster.

These spiritual beings are immortal. They won’t age, but they will die when killed. I hope this explains a little bit..
